Walking
From the central square of San Gimignano (Piazza della Cisterna), head east on Via San Giovanni. Continue straight until you reach the end of the road, where you'll see a sign directing you towards the 'Via Volte' pathway. Follow the pathway as it winds up through the scenic countryside. This will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you reach the top, follow the signs for 'Piazzale Michelangelo' which will lead you to the viewpoint overlooking Florence.

From San Gimignano, walk to the main bus station located near the central square (Piazza della Cisterna). Take the SITA bus towards Florence. The bus ride will take about 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Florence bus station (Firenze S.M.N.), exit and head towards the city center. From there, you can either walk or take a local bus (Line 12 or 13) that goes directly to Piazzale Michelangelo. The bus ride from the city center to Piazzale Michelangelo will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
