From the main square in Taormina, Piazza IX Aprile, head down Corso Umberto I towards Porta Catania. Continue straight until you reach the end of the street, where you will find the bus station. From there, take the local bus to Messina. Make sure to check the bus schedule for departure times. Once you arrive in Messina, you will need to walk to Viale Principe Umberto. Head to the nearest bus stop and take bus line 25 or 30 heading towards 'Cristo Re' as your destination. Get off at the stop closest to Cristo Re, and from there, it is a short walk to the statue.

Another option is to walk to the Taormina cable car station and take the cable car down to Mazzarò. From Mazzarò, walk to the nearest bus stop and board a bus towards Messina. Once in Messina, follow the directions to Viale Principe Umberto as mentioned above. This route offers a scenic view of the coastline as you travel down.
