Chiesa di San Zulian: A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Venice

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from the Venetian Riviera, take the A4 motorway towards Venice. Once you reach Venice, follow the signs for 'Venezia Centro.' You will need to park at one of the designated parking areas like Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto. From Piazzale Roma, you can walk to the church in about 20 minutes. If you park at Tronchetto, take the People Mover to Piazzale Roma. From there, head towards the Grand Canal and follow the signs towards St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco). Chiesa di San Zulian is located at Campo San Zulian, just a short walk from the Piazza San Marco.

• Public Transportation (Train)

  Take a train to Venice Santa Lucia station. Once you arrive, exit the station and head towards the Grand Canal. From here, you can take a Vaporetto (water bus) on Line 1 or Line 2 towards San Marco. Disembark at the San Marco Vallaresso stop. From there, walk towards St. Mark's Square and continue to Campo San Zulian, where the church is located. This journey may take approximately 30 minutes from the train station.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  If you are coming from nearby towns, take a bus that goes to Piazzale Roma. Buses from towns like Mestre or Treviso regularly arrive at this terminal. Once you arrive at Piazzale Roma, follow the same instructions as for driving: walk towards the Grand Canal and make your way to St. Mark's Square. Chiesa di San Zulian is a short walk from there. The bus fare varies based on your departure location but expect to pay around €5-€10.

• Vaporetto

  If you are already in Venice, taking a Vaporetto is the best way to navigate the canals. You can catch Line 1 or Line 2 from any of the main stops, such as Rialto or Accademia, and ride towards San Marco. Disembark at the San Marco Vallaresso stop and walk towards Campo San Zulian. A single ticket on the Vaporetto costs around €7.50, but you can also purchase a day pass if you plan on using the service multiple times.
