Getting There

Car
From Hitachi, drive south on Route 6 towards Tokyo. Follow the signs for the Joban Expressway and merge onto the expressway. Stay on the Joban Expressway for about 70 km. Take the exit towards the Shuto Expressway (Central Loop) and follow signs for Ueno / Asakusa. Continue on the Shuto Expressway until you reach the exit for Oshiage / Tokyo Skytree. Follow the signs to Tokyo Skytree Town. There is parking available at the Tokyo Skytree Town, but parking fees will apply, typically around ¥500 for the first hour and ¥250 for each additional 30 minutes.

Train
From Hitachi Station, take the JR Joban Line towards Tokyo. This train ride will take approximately 1 hour. Transfer at Ueno Station to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. Take the Ginza Line towards Asakusa and get off at Oshiage Station. The planetarium is located in the Tokyo Skytree Town, which is a short walk from the station. Follow the signs to the Tokyo Skytree Town East Yard, where the planetarium is located on the 7th floor.

Take a local bus from Hitachi Station to Mito Station. From Mito Station, board the JR Joban Line heading towards Ueno. Once at Ueno Station, transfer to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line to Oshiage Station. Upon exiting Oshiage Station, follow the signs to Tokyo Skytree Town. The planetarium is situated on the 7th floor of the East Yard. Bus fares will vary, but it's generally around ¥400 from Hitachi to Mito.
