For those using public transportation, start by taking the JR Chuo Line from the nearest station in Kai to Takao Station. From Takao Station, transfer to the JR Yokohama Line towards Hachioji Station. At Hachioji Station, switch to the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line and head towards Omiya Station. After about an hour, get off at Sugamo Station. From Sugamo Station, it is a 10-minute walk to Shinshōji Temple. Head west on Sugamo Street, then turn left onto 3 Chome, where the temple is located. The train journey will cost approximately ¥1,500.
