By Car
From Tokyo, take the Tohoku Expressway (E4) and head towards Utsunomiya. Merge onto the Nikko Utsunomiya Road and continue until you reach the Nikko exit. From Nikko, follow National Route 121 towards Kinugawa Onsen. After passing through the town, follow the signs for Ryuokyo Canyon. There is a parking area available near the canyon, which may charge a fee of around ¥500 for parking.
By Train and Bus
From Tokyo, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station. Transfer to the JR Nikko Line and head to Nikko Station. Once at Nikko Station, take the Kanetsu Kotsu bus bound for Kinugawa Onsen and get off at the 'Ryuokyo' bus stop. The bus fare is approximately ¥1,200. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the canyon entrance.
By Bus Only
If you are already in the Nikko area, take the Kanetsu Kotsu bus from Nikko Station directly to the 'Ryuokyo' stop. The journey takes about 30 minutes, and the fare is around ¥600. Once you arrive at the bus stop, follow the signs to the canyon entrance, which is within walking distance.
