    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Biwako Line (also known as the JR Kosei Line) towards Otsu. The train ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at Sakamoto Station. Once you exit the station, walk straight for about 10 minutes heading towards the lake. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the Former Chikurin-in Temple, which is located at 5 Chome-2-13 Sakamoto.

    From Kyoto Station, head to the bus terminal located outside the station. Take the #206 or #207 bus heading to Otsu. The bus ride will take around 45 minutes. Get off at the Sakamoto stop. From there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to the Former Chikurin-in Temple. Follow the road towards the lake and look for signs directing you to the temple.
