Gion Shinbashi Bridge: A Serene Passage Through Kyoto's Cultural Heart

Getting There

• Public Transportation

  From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Subway Line (green line) to Shijo Station (4 stops). At Shijo Station, transfer to the Hankyu Kyoto Line and take a train to Kawaramachi Station (1 stop). After arriving at Kawaramachi Station, exit the station and walk east along Shijo Street for about 10 minutes. Turn left onto Hanamikoji Street, and continue walking straight until you reach Gion Shinbashi Bridge, which will be visible as you approach the area.

• Walking

  If you're near Yasaka Shrine, head north on Yasaka-dori Street until you reach Shijo Avenue. Turn left on Shijo Avenue and walk west until you reach the intersection with Hanamikoji Street. Turn right on Hanamikoji Street, and you will find Gion Shinbashi Bridge. The bridge is located just off the main street and is a picturesque area, perfect for a stroll.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a taxi, simply tell the driver 'Gion Shinbashi Bridge' or show them the address: 〒605-0087 Kyoto, Higashiyama Ward, 花見小路新橋西. The drive from Kyoto Station will take approximately 10 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Bicycle

  If you rented a bicycle, head towards the Kamo River and ride south along the riverbank. When you reach the intersection with Shijo Street, turn left and cycle west until you see Hanamikoji Street. Turn right onto Hanamikoji Street, and you'll find Gion Shinbashi Bridge shortly ahead. There are bike racks available nearby for parking.
