Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line subway towards Kokusai Kaikan. Get off at Demachiyanagi Station (about 15 minutes). Exit the station and walk north along the Takano River for about 10 minutes until you reach Kitayama Street. Turn left and walk for another 5 minutes until you reach the intersection with Kumogahatadetanicho. Turn right, and you will find Shimyo-in Temple on your left.

    From Kyoto Station, take bus number 204 or 205 towards Kitayama. Get off at the Kumogahatadetanicho stop (approximately 30 minutes). From the bus stop, walk back a few meters, turn right onto Kumogahatadetanicho, and continue walking for about 5 minutes. Shimyo-in Temple will be on your left.

    If you are staying in the northern area of Kyoto, you can walk to Shimyo-in Temple. Navigate towards Kitayama Street, then head east on Kumogahatadetanicho for about 15-20 minutes. The temple is located at 261 Kumogahatadetanicho, and you will see it on your right as you approach.
