Shin-Hotaka Visitor Center Travel Guide

The Shin-Hotaka Visitor Center, or “Sangakukan”, is a mountain and nature-themed exhibition hall located by the Shinhotaka Ropeway. It acts as a gateway to the Japanese Alps, providing tourists with information about the surrounding Okuhida region. The center offers insights into the local flora, fauna, and geology, enhancing the visitor experience before they ascend the mountains. The Shinhotaka Ropeway itself is a unique attraction, featuring Japan's only double-decker gondola lifts, offering panoramic views of the Hida Mountains. From the observation deck at the top of Nishihotakaguchi Station, visitors can see iconic peaks such as Mt. Kasa, Mt. Yari, and the Hotaka mountain range.
