Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park: A Coastal Oasis
Discover seasonal blooms, scenic terraces, and family fun at this coastal park with stunning Akashi Kaikyo Bridge views and recreational activities.
Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park is split between two locations: Awaji Island and Kobe. The Awaji Island side, known as an amusement park by the ocean, features themed zones like the observation zone, cultural exchange zone, and coastal zone. The park is celebrated for its seasonal flowers, which create a vibrant display throughout the year. Visitors can explore various attractions, including the Waterfall Terrace, Rainbow of Earth, and Sky Terrace, each offering unique experiences and panoramic views. The park also features a large playground with a 130-meter-long structure, a maze-like jungle gym, and a spacious lawn area. For those seeking relaxation, there are designated picnic areas and tranquil walking trails. The park's history is also noteworthy; it was developed on a site previously used for soil removal during the Kansai Airport land reclamation project. Today, it stands as a symbol of recovery from the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995, marked by the Hanahidori statue. The park embodies the theme of coexistence between people and nature, providing a space for recreation and appreciation of the natural environment.
