Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, take the Matsuyama Expressway (Route 33) and follow the signs for Matsuyama City. Once you enter the city, take the exit towards 'Matsuyama Castle' (Matsuyama-jo). Parking is available at the base of the castle for a small fee, around 500 yen per day. From the parking area, you can either walk up a steep path or take the ropeway (cost: around 1,000 yen round trip) to reach the castle.

Train

If you are using public transportation, take the JR Shikoku train to Matsuyama Station. From Matsuyama Station, you can take the local bus (Bus No. 5 or 6) towards 'Matsuyama Castle' (Matsuyama-jo). The fare is approximately 250 yen. Alternatively, it is about a 20-minute walk from the station to the castle.

Ropeway

Once you reach the entrance of Matsuyama Castle, you can opt to take the ropeway from the base of the hill. This scenic ride takes about 5 minutes and costs around 1,000 yen for a round trip. The ropeway provides a beautiful view of the surrounding area as you ascend to the castle.
