From Almaty city center, take the Abay Avenue (Abay Street) heading southeast. Continue driving until you reach the intersection with Al-Farabi Avenue. Turn onto Al-Farabi Avenue and continue straight until you reach the Medeu District. You will see signs for the Medeu Ice Rink, which is a popular landmark. Continue past the Ice Rink and follow the road until it becomes the Unnamed Road leading into the mountains. Follow the Unnamed Road for about 5 km until you reach the coordinates 42V3+4HQ, which is the entrance to Kok Zhailau. Make sure to have a reliable GPS or map app, as some parts of the road may not be well marked.

Start from the Almaty city center and take bus number 12 or 28 from the Republic Square bus stop. These buses will take you to the Medeu area. The fare is around 150 KZT (Kazakhstani Tenge). Once you arrive at the Medeu bus stop, you can either walk towards the Medeu Ice Rink or take a taxi from there to the Unnamed Road leading to Kok Zhailau.
