    Getting There

    Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Kolsai Lakes National Park. Drive towards the main road leading to the village of Saty. Continue driving for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the sign for Chulak Gorge. Turn left at the sign and follow the winding road for about 5 kilometers. You will reach a small parking area where you can leave your car. From the parking area, it’s a short 15-minute hike to the gorge.

    Public Transportation

    To reach Chulak Gorge using public transportation, take a marshrutka (minibus) from Almaty to the village of Saty. The journey takes about 4-5 hours. Once you arrive in Saty, you can hire a local taxi or join a group of tourists to share a ride to the entrance of Kolsai Lakes National Park. From there, follow the same route as described for car travelers. A taxi ride from Saty to the gorge may cost around 3000-4000 KZT, and it’s advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand.

    Hiking

    If you are already in Kolsai Lakes National Park and prefer a hiking adventure, you can start from the main park trails. Follow the marked trails leading towards Chulak Gorge. The hike is about 8 kilometers and will take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you have proper hiking gear, water, and snacks for the journey. The paths are well-maintained, but always be cautious of wildlife and changing weather conditions.
