Car
If you are driving from Garissa, take the A5 road heading north towards Dadaab. After approximately 90 kilometers, you will reach a junction. Take the turn onto the B8 road heading towards the town of Hagadera. Continue on this road for about 50 kilometers until you reach the Nelion area. Be mindful of road conditions as they can vary, and ensure your vehicle is equipped for rough terrains.
Public Transportation
From Garissa, board a matatu (shared minibus) heading to Dadaab. The matatus leave frequently from the main bus station. The fare is approximately 300 KES. Upon arrival in Dadaab, look for another matatu or a taxi that can take you the remaining 50 kilometers to Nelion. The fare for this leg of the journey should be around 500 KES. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off near Nelion.
Hiking/Walking
Once you arrive at Nelion, be prepared for some hiking if you plan to explore the area further. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear, plenty of water, and possibly a local guide to help navigate the trails. The terrain can be challenging, so it's advisable to be well-prepared for the conditions.
