Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the city center of Thakhek. Head northeast on Road 13 (Route 13) for about 12 kilometers. You will pass through some small villages. Continue until you reach the junction for FVC4+JHW. Turn left and follow the signs leading to Tham Pa Sueam. The entrance will be marked, and you will find parking available nearby. The journey typically takes around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Public Transportation
To reach Tham Pa Sueam using public transportation, you can take a local bus or a tuk-tuk from Thakhek. Start at the main bus station in Thakhek and look for buses heading towards the surrounding villages. Confirm with the driver that they will stop near Tham Pa Sueam. The fare should be around 10,000 to 20,000 LAK (approximately $1 to $2 USD). Once you arrive at the nearest stop, you may need to walk about 1-2 kilometers to reach the entrance of the cave. Alternatively, you can hire a tuk-tuk for a more direct route; this will cost around 50,000 to 100,000 LAK (approximately $5 to $10 USD).
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle in Thakhek is a great way to reach Tham Pa Sueam. You can rent a bicycle from various shops in the city for about 20,000 LAK (approximately $2 USD) per day. Follow the same route as by car, heading northeast on Road 13. The ride is approximately 12 kilometers and takes about 1 hour, depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen as there are limited shaded areas.
