Getting There

  • Car

    From Phakse, take Route 13 south towards Champasak. After about 25 km, you will reach the junction for Route 16. Turn left onto Route 16 and continue for about 10 km until you see signs for Don Det and Don Khon. Follow the signs and continue straight until you reach the Mekong River ferry point. Park your car here and take a ferry to Don Khon, which costs around 10,000 LAK per person. Once on Don Khon, follow the signs to the Historic Bridge.

    From Phakse, take a local bus or a shared van heading towards Champasak. Buses leave from the main bus station in Phakse, and the fare is approximately 20,000 LAK. Inform the driver that you want to stop at the junction for Route 16 where you will find a sign for Don Det and Don Khon. Once you reach the junction, take a tuk-tuk to the ferry point on the Mekong River (around 15,000 LAK). After reaching the ferry, pay the 10,000 LAK fare to cross over to Don Khon. Follow signs to the Historic Bridge once you arrive on the island.
