Getting There

Car
Begin your journey from the center of Phakse. Head east on Route 13 for approximately 15 km until you reach the junction with Route 18. Turn left onto Route 18 and continue for about 30 km. As you approach the Mekong River, keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Don Det Island. After crossing the bridge to Don Det, drive to the main village area. From there, you may need to park your vehicle and walk the last part to the Old French Port, which is located near the riverside.

Public Transportation (Bus)
From Phakse, take a local bus heading towards Champasak. Buses depart regularly from the main bus station. The journey should take about 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Champasak bus station, you will need to take a tuk-tuk or a shared taxi to the Don Det ferry terminal, which is approximately 10 km away. The fare for the tuk-tuk is usually around 20,000 LAK. At the ferry terminal, pay for a ticket (generally around 5,000 LAK) to cross the Mekong River to Don Det Island. After landing, walk to the Old French Port, which is a short distance from the ferry landing.
