Discover more about Alpschaukäserei Schwägalp

The Alpschaukäserei Schwägalp, located at the base of the majestic Säntis mountain, is more than just a cheese shop; it's a celebration of Swiss tradition and craftsmanship. Established in 1996 by local farmers, the cheese factory (or *Käserei*) continues to operate as a cooperative, using milk exclusively from cows grazing on the surrounding Alpine meadows. Visitors can witness the cheese-making process firsthand, observing how fresh Alpine milk is transformed into the famous Schwägalp cheese and other regional delicacies. The *Käserei* produces a variety of cheeses, including Raclette, Mutschli, and goat cheese, alongside butter and yogurt. The majority of the cheese is sold to wholesalers, but a selection is available in the on-site shop, open daily from May to October. The experience is particularly captivating in the morning when the milk is processed. A large glass front offers a clear view of the production area, allowing visitors to observe the cheesemakers in action. Guided tours are also available for a more in-depth understanding of the cheese-making process and the region's Alpine farming traditions. Beyond the cheese, the Alpschaukäserei Schwägalp embodies the natural beauty and tranquility of the Schwägalp region. It's a place where visitors can connect with the heart of Swiss culture through its beloved cheese and appreciate the stunning alpine views.
