Klosters-Serneus: A Quintessential Swiss Alpine Village

Klosters-Serneus, often simply called Klosters, is a picturesque alpine village in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Formed in 1865 from the merger of Klosters and Serneus, and later including Saas im Prättigau in 2016, the municipality boasts a rich history and a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Klosters is known for its stunning scenery, characterized by traditional chalet-style buildings and breathtaking mountain views. The village is divided into Klosters Platz and Klosters Dorf, each offering its own distinct charm. For decades, Klosters has been a favored winter destination for the British royal family and other celebrities, earning it the nickname "Hollywood on the Rocks". Despite its high-profile visitors, Klosters maintains an understated elegance and a relaxed atmosphere. Klosters offers a wide range of activities throughout the year. In winter, skiing is the main draw, with access to the vast Davos Klosters ski area, including the popular Parsenn and Madrisa slopes. Madrisa Land, an adventure park on Madrisa Mountain, provides family-friendly fun with toboggan runs, fairy-tale gondola rides, and interactive play areas. In the summer, the mountains transform into a hiker's paradise, with over 435 miles (700 kilometers) of trails. Visitors can also enjoy mountain biking, horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and ice skating. Beyond outdoor activities, Klosters offers cultural attractions such as the 15th-century Klosters Church, featuring beautiful windows by Swiss painter Augusto Giacometti, and the Nutli-Hüschi folk museum, housed in a 16th-century farmhouse.
