Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in South Portland, start by heading north towards the Casco Bay Bridge. You can take the pedestrian path across the bridge which offers stunning views of the bay. Once you reach the bridge, continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Franklin Street. Turn right onto Franklin Street and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Congress Street.

• Walking

  After turning onto Congress Street, head east towards the downtown area of Portland. You will pass several shops and restaurants along the way. Keep walking until you reach 138 Congress Street. The Portland Observatory will be on your left side, located at the address mentioned. Look for the historic building with the lighthouse-like tower.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From various points in South Portland, you can take the Metro bus service. Look for the Route 1 bus heading towards Portland. The bus will stop near the Casco Bay Bridge. Once you arrive at the bus stop, disembark and walk towards Franklin Street. From there, turn right onto Franklin Street and continue to Congress Street. Walk east along Congress Street until you reach 138 Congress Street.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to ride a bicycle, you can follow the same route as the walking instructions. Start by heading towards the Casco Bay Bridge using designated bike lanes. Once you cross the bridge, continue on Franklin Street to Congress Street. Bicycling is a great way to see the sights along the way, and there are bike racks available at the Portland Observatory.
