Public Transit (Bus)
From South Portland, head to the nearest bus stop that services the Greater Portland METRO. Look for the METRO Line 1 (Blue Line) which travels towards the Portland Transportation Center. Board the bus and enjoy the ride. It will take you across the Casco Bay Bridge, providing you with lovely views of the waterfront. After about 15-20 minutes, get off at the stop at the Portland Transportation Center. From there, it is a short walk to the Portland Waterfront Historic District.

Bicycle
If you're up for a bike ride, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing programs available in South Portland. Start by heading north on Broadway Avenue, then take a left onto Waterman Drive. Follow Waterman Drive until you reach the Casco Bay Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto Commercial Street in Portland. The Portland Waterfront Historic District will be on your left as you approach the waterfront area. The ride should take you about 30-40 minutes.

For those who prefer walking, start at the South Portland Community Center. Walk along the Greenbelt Walkway heading north until you reach the Casco Bay Bridge. Depending on your pace, this will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you reach the bridge, cross it and continue straight. You'll find yourself at Commercial Street; follow it until you reach the Portland Waterfront Historic District, which will be marked by its historic buildings and beautiful waterfront views.
