History of Central Region

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, was founded in 1857 by Chinese tin miners. The city's name, which means 'muddy confluence' in Malay, reflects its origins at the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers. It rapidly developed into a bustling commercial hub due to the booming tin mining industry.
Selangor, one of the states in the Central Region, was part of the historical Sultanate of Selangor established in 1766. The sultanate was founded by Raja Lumu, a Bugis prince. The state played a significant role in the political and economic landscape of Malaysia, especially during the tin mining era.
The Klang War, also known as the Selangor Civil War, was a series of conflicts among local Malay chieftains and Chinese secret societies over control of the lucrative tin mines in the Klang Valley.
