History of Sabah

Prehistoric Borneo

The history of Sabah stretches back to prehistoric times, with evidence of human habitation dating as far back as 20,000 to 30,000 years ago. Archaeological sites like the Madai-Baturong caves in the Lahad Datu area have revealed stone tools and other artifacts that provide a glimpse into the lives of Sabah's earliest inhabitants.

The Bruneian and Sulu Sultanates

World War II and Japanese Occupation
