Getting to and around Xlendi Area

How to get there

Xlendi is on Gozo, Malta’s smaller main island, and is normally reached via the Gozo Channel ferry from Ċirkewwa in northern Malta; Ċirkewwa is outside the Xlendi Area. The crossing arrives at Mġarr Harbour, from where Xlendi is approximately a short road journey by bus, taxi or car. Visitors travelling from Valletta can also use the passenger fast-ferry service to Mġarr when operating, then continue overland. Malta International Airport is on the main island, not Gozo, so an airport transfer requires the road journey to the ferry terminal or a combined transfer arrangement.

History of Xlendi Area

Prehistoric and Ancient Gozo

The Xlendi landscape belongs to an island with a long archaeological record, including prehistoric settlement, later Punic activity and Roman occupation.
