If you're driving, enter the park via the nearest highway. From downtown Washington, DC, take 14th St NW to the George Washington Parkway. Follow the parkway north and take the exit for the C&O Canal Towpath. Continue onto the towpath until you reach Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Lock 2, located at approximately 38.9040818 latitude and -77.0585133 longitude. There is no parking available directly at Lock 2, so be sure to find a designated parking area nearby and walk to the lock.

To reach C&O Canal Lock 2 using public transportation, take the Metro to the Foggy Bottom-GWU station on the Blue, Orange, or Silver Line. From there, head southwest on K St NW toward 20th St NW and turn left onto 20th St NW. Walk to Virginia Ave NW and catch the Metrobus 30N or 30S toward the 14th St Bridge. Disembark at the stop near the C&O Canal Towpath. Walk east along the towpath until you arrive at Lock 2. Be sure to check the Metro and bus schedules for the most current times and any fare costs.
