Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Cancun, take Highway 307 south towards Tulum. After about 80 km, you will pass through Playa del Carmen. Continue on Highway 307 for another 30 km until you reach the Akumal exit. Turn left onto Akumal Trail. Follow the road until you see signs for Akumal Beach, where you can park in designated areas. Be aware that there may be parking fees ranging from 50 to 100 pesos depending on the lot.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Akumal by public transportation, you can take a colectivo (shared taxi) from Playa del Carmen. These colectivos can be found at the bus terminal or along Calle 2 Norte. The fare is approximately 40 pesos per person. Ask the driver to drop you off at Akumal. Once you arrive, you may need to walk approximately 10-15 minutes to the beach area. Alternatively, you can take an ADO bus from Cancun to Tulum and then catch a colectivo to Akumal from Tulum, which will cost around 60 pesos for the bus and another 40 pesos for the colectivo.
