If you are traveling by car from any location in Northwestern Minnesota, you'll want to head towards Interstate 94 (I-94). From locations like Bemidji or Thief River Falls, take Highway 2 to I-94 eastbound. Once on I-94, continue until you reach Minneapolis. Once in Minneapolis, take exit 234A for 11th St toward 3rd Ave S. Turn right onto 3rd Ave S. The Hennepin History Museum is located at 2303 3rd Ave S, right on your left side. Parking may be available on the street or in nearby lots, which could incur a small fee.

For those using public transportation, you can take a Greyhound or Jefferson Lines bus to Minneapolis from various Northwestern Minnesota cities. Once in Minneapolis, transfer to the Metro Transit Light Rail Green Line at the Target Field Station. Ride towards the University of Minnesota. Get off at the Nicollet Mall Station. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk. Head southeast on Nicollet Mall, turn left onto 3rd Ave S, and walk until you reach 2303 3rd Ave S.
