Discover more about Citygarden Sculpture Park

Citygarden, located in the heart of downtown St. Louis, is a three-acre urban park and sculpture garden that offers a refreshing blend of art, nature, and urban life. Opened in 2009, the park transformed two previously vacant city blocks into a dynamic space where visitors can freely explore and interact with contemporary sculptures. The park is home to 24 sculptures by internationally renowned artists, including Fernand Léger, Keith Haring, and Igor Mitoraj. Unlike traditional sculpture parks, Citygarden encourages visitors to touch and even walk inside the artworks, creating a unique and engaging experience. The sculptures are thoughtfully placed within a landscape featuring lush gardens, winding paths, and interactive water features, such as a children's spray plaza and a 180-foot-long pool with a waterfall. The design of Citygarden is inspired by the regional river landscape, particularly the Mississippi River. The park is divided into three bands representing the river bluffs, floodplain, and cultivated river terrace. These zones are separated by a 550-foot-long arched wall of Missouri limestone and a meandering granite wall, creating diverse spaces and experiences throughout the park. Citygarden is not only a visual delight but also a sustainable urban space. The park incorporates innovative stormwater management strategies and a diverse planting palette of native plants that thrive in the urban environment. With its central location, accessibility, and engaging design, Citygarden has become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, revitalizing downtown St. Louis and offering a unique cultural experience.
