Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are currently at Old Faithful, start by walking towards the Old Faithful Lodge. From there, head northeast along the pathway that leads you out of the Old Faithful area. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the main road. Turn left onto the Grand Loop Road and follow the signs towards Madison Junction. Keep walking for about 3 miles until you reach the junction. At Madison Junction, take the path that leads to the west towards the West Entrance of the park. You'll notice the landscape changing as you approach the boundary of the park. Continue walking for approximately 5 more miles, and you'll see the Yellowstone National Park sign on your left side.

  • Biking

    If you're starting from Mammoth Hot Springs, rent a bike and head south on the main road towards Norris Geyser Basin. Follow the road for about 7 miles, enjoying the scenic views along the way. As you approach Norris, stay on the Grand Loop Road and continue towards Madison Junction. Once you reach Madison, take a left onto the road heading towards the west entrance of the park. After cycling for approximately 5 miles, you will see the Yellowstone National Park sign on your right as you approach the entrance.

  • Hiking

    If you are at Tower Fall, begin your hike by taking the trail that leads south towards Slough Creek. Follow this trail for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with the Grand Loop Road. At the intersection, turn left and continue hiking for another 4 miles. Keep an eye out for the Yellowstone National Park sign, which will be located just off the side of the road as you approach the west entrance area.
