Getting There

Walking
Start at the Old Town of Kotor, which is easily accessible and a popular tourist area. From the main square, head towards the Sea Gate (Gradska vrata). Once you reach the Sea Gate, take the stairs that lead up to the Old Kotor Fort (San Giovanni Fortress). Follow the path up the steep steps, which will take you through several levels of the fortifications. Continue ascending until you reach the top of the fortress, where you will find stunning panoramic views of Kotor and the surrounding mountains.

Walking
If you prefer a less steep route, exit the Old Town through the North Gate (the other side of the main square) and follow the road that runs along the base of the fortress. This will eventually lead you to the trailhead of the Old Kotor Fort Trail. From there, take the marked trail that will guide you up to the fort. Be prepared for a more gradual incline, but still a beautiful hike.

From the bus station in Kotor, walk towards the Old Town. Once you reach the Old Town, follow the same directions provided above to get to the Old Kotor Fort. The walk from the bus station to the Old Town is about 10 minutes, and from there, you can access the fort easily.
