Getting There

Walking
Start from Thamel, a popular tourist area in Kathmandu. Head east on Tridevi Marg towards the intersection with Bhagwati Marg. Turn left onto Bhagwati Marg and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Durbar Marg. At this intersection, turn right and walk along Durbar Marg. After a short distance, you will see the entrance to Basantapur Durbar Square on your left. Enter the square, and the Kumari Shrine is located within the complex. Follow the signs directing you to the Kumari Ghar (Kumari's residence) where you can witness the living goddess.

If you are near Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), you can walk to Kumari Shrine. Start by heading down the steps from Swayambhunath. Once you reach the main road, turn left and walk towards the Thamel area. When you reach the intersection with Tridevi Marg, turn right. Continue until you reach the intersection with Bhagwati Marg, turn left, and follow the rest of the directions to Durbar Square as mentioned above.

From Ratna Park, take a local microbus heading towards Bhaktapur, but get off at the Basantapur stop. Walk towards Durbar Square, and you will find the Kumari Shrine located within the square. Make sure to ask locals for directions to the Kumari Ghar if you are unsure.
