Public Transportation (Bus)
Begin your journey by taking a bus from the nearest bus station in Lukla to Khumjung. The bus fare is approximately 300-500 Nepali Rupees. The journey will take about 2-3 hours. Upon arriving in Khumjung, you can either walk or take a local taxi (costing around 200-300 Nepali Rupees) to Tyangboche. Once you reach Tyangboche, follow the path signs to Tengboche Monastery, which is located about a 30-minute walk from the taxi drop-off point.
Trekking
For the adventurous, you may opt to trek from Khumjung to Tengboche Monastery. This trek typically takes about 1-2 hours. Start from Khumjung and follow the well-marked trekking paths leading to Tyangboche. The trek is scenic and provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Make sure to wear proper trekking shoes and carry enough water. This option is free, but ensure you have the necessary permits for trekking in the area.
