If you're driving from Zaanse Schans to the Canals of Amsterdam, start by heading south on the N516 road. Continue on the N516 for about 10 kilometers. Merge onto the A8 motorway and follow the signs for Amsterdam. After approximately 10 kilometers on the A8, take the exit toward S100/Amsterdam-Centrum. Continue on the S100, and follow the signs for Centrum. Once you reach the city center, look for parking options, as street parking can be limited. The nearest parking garages are 'Q-Park Amsterdam Centrum' or 'Parkeergarage de Kolk'. After parking, it's about a 10-minute walk to the canals.

Public Transportation (Train)
To reach the Canals of Amsterdam via public transportation, start by walking to the nearest bus stop in Zaanse Schans. Take bus line 391 to Zaandam Station. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes and costs approximately €5. At Zaandam Station, purchase a train ticket to Amsterdam Central Station, which costs around €10 and takes about 17 minutes. Upon arrival at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head towards the canals, which are located just a short walk to the south. Enjoy the scenic walk along the way!

Public Transportation (Bus and Tram)
Another option is to take bus line 391 from Zaanse Schans to Zaandam Station. Once at Zaandam Station, transfer to bus line 64 towards Amsterdam. This bus will take you to Amsterdam, where you can transfer to tram line 2 or 4 at the nearest tram stop. Both tram lines will take you to the central areas where the canals are located. The total travel time is about 45 minutes, and the combined cost for the bus and tram is around €10.
