Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Newton, NJ. From the Appalachian Trail, locate a nearby road that connects to Route 206. Take Route 206 North, and then merge onto NJ-94 North. Continue on NJ-94 North until you reach Goodale Rd. Turn left onto Goodale Rd, and you will find Kittatinny Valley State Park at 199 Goodale Rd, Newton, NJ 07860. Be aware that parking is available at the park, and there may be a small parking fee depending on the season.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a NJ Transit train to the Newton station. From New York City, board the NJ Transit train on the Morris & Essex Line to Dover Station, then transfer to the Morristown Line towards Hackettstown. Get off at the Newton station. From the station, you can either take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach Kittatinny Valley State Park, which is approximately 5 miles away. Expect taxi costs to range from $15 to $25.

• Biking

  If you're feeling adventurous and are staying nearby, consider biking to the park. There are biking paths available from the Appalachian Trail that lead towards Newton.
