From your location in Paterson, head to the nearest bus stop that services NJ Transit. You can take the NJ Transit Bus 190 towards New York. Once you're on the bus, stay on for about 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. After exiting the terminal, walk to West 42nd Street and turn right. Continue walking until you reach 8th Avenue, then turn left. Walk north on 8th Avenue until you reach West 53rd Street and turn right. The Museum of Modern Art will be on your left at 11 W 53rd St.

Make your way to the Paterson Train Station. Board a NJ Transit train on the North Jersey Coast Line towards New York Penn Station. The journey will take approximately 25-30 minutes. Once you arrive at Penn Station, follow the signs to the 34th Street exit and head towards 8th Avenue. Walk north on 8th Avenue for about 5 blocks until you reach West 53rd Street, then turn left. The Museum of Modern Art will be on your left at 11 W 53rd St.
