If you are driving, head towards the town of Westcliffe, Colorado, which serves as the closest access point to Sangre de Cristo Wilderness. From Westcliffe, take County Road 119 (also known as Hermit Road) and follow it for about 11 miles. After approximately 9 miles, the road will become a dirt road. Continue on this dirt road for about 2 miles until you reach the parking area for the wilderness. Be cautious as this road can be rough; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended.
