Getting There

    To reach the Shelter Island Historical Society, you will first need to take a ferry. If you are starting from the Long Island town of Greenport, head to the Greenport Ferry Terminal located at 1000 3rd St, Greenport, NY 11944. Make sure to check the ferry schedule in advance. Board the South Ferry, which operates between Greenport and Shelter Island. The ferry ride takes approximately 8 minutes. Upon arrival at Shelter Island, you will disembark at the North Ferry terminal.

    Once you arrive at the North Ferry terminal on Shelter Island, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach the Shelter Island Historical Society located at 16 S Ferry Rd. Exit the terminal and turn left on North Ferry Rd. Follow North Ferry Rd until it merges into South Ferry Rd. Continue straight on South Ferry Rd; the Historical Society will be on your left.
