Getting There

  • Car

    From Tauranga, head southeast on State Highway 2 (SH2) towards Katikati. Continue on SH2 for approximately 30 kilometers. You will pass through small towns and beautiful countryside. Look for signs directing you to Karangahake Gorge. As you approach Karangahake, you will see the gorge entrance on your left. There is a parking area available at the entrance, which is free of charge.

  • Public Transportation

    From Tauranga, take a bus to Waihi. The bus service is operated by the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Check the current schedule as services may vary. Once in Waihi, you can either take a taxi or walk approximately 6 kilometers to reach Karangahake Gorge. Walking will take around 1.5 hours, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way.
