If you are travelling by car, head towards Milford Sound from Te Anau, which is approximately a 2-hour drive. As you enter Milford Sound, look for signs directing you to The Chasm. After reaching the main entrance to Milford Sound, continue on the Milford Road (State Highway 94) for about 15 minutes until you reach the designated car park for The Chasm Walk. The car park is clearly marked and includes facilities for visitors.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Te Anau to Milford Sound. Several services operate this route, and the journey takes around 2 hours. Once you arrive in Milford Sound, you can either walk or take a shuttle to The Chasm Viewing Bridge. The shuttle service is available at the Milford Sound Visitor Centre, and it’s advisable to check the schedule in advance. The Chasm is about a 15-minute drive from the Milford Sound Visitor Centre. Make sure to confirm the shuttle fare, which typically ranges around NZD 10-15.

If you prefer to walk, from the parking area at The Chasm Walk, follow the well-marked track which is approximately a 20-minute walk to the viewing bridge. The path is relatively easy to navigate, suitable for most fitness levels, and showcases stunning views of the surrounding rainforest.
