Car
If you're travelling by car, start your journey in Invercargill, the largest city in Southland. Head north on State Highway 1 (SH1) for approximately 20 km until you reach the town of Gore. From Gore, take State Highway 94 (SH94) heading east towards Te Anau. Continue on SH94 for about 70 km until you reach Te Anau. At Te Anau, follow the signs to the Fiordland National Park and take the Milford Road (SH94) towards Milford Sound. About 18 km before reaching Milford Sound, you'll find the Korako Glacier access point. There is limited parking available, and it's recommended to arrive early in the day to secure a spot.

Public Transportation
For those using public transport, start from Invercargill and take a bus to Te Anau. Companies like InterCity provide services between these locations. The bus journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive in Te Anau, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange a shuttle service to take you to the Korako Glacier access point, which is about 18 km from Te Anau. Be sure to check in advance for taxi availability, and consider booking a shuttle service ahead of time to avoid delays.
