Car
If you are starting from Wānaka, head southwest on Ardmore Street towards the lake. Continue straight onto Cardrona Valley Road. After about 20 minutes, you will reach the Cardrona Hotel. From there, turn left onto the Crown Range Road. Follow this road for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the junction with the State Highway 6. Turn left onto State Highway 6, and continue for about 45 minutes until you reach the town of Makarora. From Makarora, look for signs directing you to Deep Canyon, which is located on the Haast Pass Road. The journey should take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions. Ensure to check road conditions as they can vary.

To reach Deep Canyon via public transportation, start your journey in Queenstown or Wānaka. From Wānaka, take the InterCity bus service to Makarora (check schedules in advance as they may vary). Upon arriving in Makarora, you can arrange for a local shuttle service to take you to Deep Canyon. It is advisable to contact Deep Canyon in advance to confirm shuttle availability, as this service may not be regularly scheduled. The entire journey may take several hours, so plan accordingly.
