To reach Flagstaff Hill Track from Paihia, start by walking to the Paihia Wharf, which is located along the waterfront. The wharf is well-signposted and takes about 10 minutes on foot from the main street. Once at the wharf, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Russell. The ferry departs regularly and takes approximately 15 minutes to cross the bay. When you arrive at Russell, disembark and head towards the main street.

From the ferry terminal in Russell, walk along the main street (Queen Street) for about 5 minutes until you reach the intersection with York Street. Turn left onto York Street, and follow it until you reach the end of the road, where you will find the entrance to Flagstaff Hill Track. The trailhead is clearly marked, and you will begin your hike up the hill from there.
