If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards Russell from any location in Northland. Follow State Highway 1 (SH1) south until you reach the junction with State Highway 10 (SH10). Take the exit towards Kerikeri/Russell. Continue on SH10 until you reach the intersection with Okiato Road. Follow the signs to Russell. Once in Russell, look for signs directing you to Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve. There is limited parking available near the entrance.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus service from your location in Northland to Paihia. From Paihia, you can take a ferry to Russell. The ferry ride is about 15 minutes and offers scenic views of the bay. Once you arrive in Russell, you can either walk to Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve, which is about a 30-minute walk from the ferry terminal, or you can take a local taxi to the reserve. Be sure to check the bus and ferry schedules in advance for any changes in timing.

If you're already in Russell and prefer to walk, start at the Russell ferry terminal and head along the waterfront. Follow Beach Road until you reach the junction with York Street. Turn onto York Street and continue uphill until you reach the entrance to Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve. The walk takes approximately 30 minutes and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
