    From the center of Wanaka, start at the Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Centre located on Ardmore Street. Head south on Ardmore Street towards the Lake Wanaka shoreline. Once you reach the lake, turn left and follow the lakeside path. Continue walking along the lake until you reach the intersection with the Mt Aspiring Road. Turn right onto Mt Aspiring Road and continue walking. After about 1.5 km, you will see signs for Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road. Turn left onto Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road, and after about 4 km, you will arrive at Lake Hayes Reserve.

  • Biking

    You can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in Wanaka, such as Wanaka Bike Tours or Cycle Surgery. Start at the Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Centre and head south towards the lake. Follow the lakeside path and continue onto Mt Aspiring Road. This route will take you through some picturesque landscapes. After approximately 6 km, you'll reach the turnoff for Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road. Follow this road for another 4 km until you arrive at Lake Hayes Reserve.

  • Public Transport

    Take the bus from Wanaka to Queenstown, which operates frequently throughout the day. Get off at the 'Lake Hayes' stop. From there, it's a short walk to Lake Hayes Reserve. Head southeast on Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road for about 500 meters, and you will reach the entrance to Lake Hayes Reserve.
