Getting There

• Bus

  To get to Basin Reserve from downtown Wellington, you can take a bus from the Wellington Central Bus Station, located at 81-83 Victoria Street. Board any bus heading towards Newtown. After about 10 minutes, get off at the stop on Cambridge Terrace, which is near the Basin Reserve. From the bus stop, walk towards the Basin Reserve entrance, which should be visible ahead.

• Walking

  If you're already in the central area, you can walk to Basin Reserve. Start at the Wellington Waterfront and head towards Wakefield Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Cambridge Terrace. Turn left onto Cambridge Terrace, and follow it for about 15 minutes until you see the Basin Reserve on your right.

• Cycling

  For a cycling option, rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing services available in Wellington. Start from the central city and head towards Victoria Street. Cycle along Victoria Street until you reach the intersection with Cambridge Terrace, then turn right. Continue on Cambridge Terrace for around 1.5 km until you arrive at Basin Reserve.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  If you prefer a more direct option, consider taking a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber). Simply enter 'Basin Reserve, Mount Cook, Wellington' as your destination. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of Basin Reserve.

• Tram

  Take the Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay to the Kelburn terminus. Once there, you can walk down to the city center and then make your way towards the Basin Reserve, which is about a 20-minute walk from the cable car station. Alternatively, you can take a bus from the cable car stop down to Basin Reserve.
