Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Wellington's city center, head towards Lambton Quay. From Lambton Quay, you can take the Cable Car from the Cable Car station located at the end of the street. The Cable Car will take you up to the Kelburn lookout point. Once you arrive at the Kelburn Terminal, exit the Cable Car and turn left onto Upland Road. Continue walking along Upland Road until you reach the entrance to the Wellington Botanic Garden. The entrance is well-signposted and should be a short walk from the terminal.

    From the city center, you can catch bus number 1 or number 14 from any of the bus stops along Lambton Quay. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest times. Get off at the 'Botanic Garden' stop, which is located at the entrance of the garden. From there, you can enter the gardens and enjoy the various attractions inside.

    If you're near the Wellington Waterfront, you can walk to the gardens by heading towards the end of Wakefield Street.
