Start at the Whanganui Riverfront, a popular area in the central part of Whanganui. Head east along the riverwalk, enjoying the scenic views. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Victoria Avenue. Turn left onto Victoria Avenue and proceed north. After about 1 km, turn right onto Anzac Parade. Follow Anzac Parade for approximately 700 meters until you reach the Anzac Parade Freedom Camping Area at 140a Anzac Parade. The area will be on your left.

If you have access to a bike, start at the Whanganui Riverfront. Cycle east along the riverwalk until you get to Victoria Avenue. Turn left onto Victoria Avenue, heading north. After about 1 km, turn right onto Anzac Parade. Continue cycling for about 700 meters until you reach Anzac Parade Freedom Camping Area located at 140a Anzac Parade on your left. Make sure to keep an eye on cyclists and pedestrians as you navigate.
