Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Nantahala National Forest, start by heading towards Bryson City, NC. From Bryson City, take US-74 W for approximately 8 miles. Exit at NC-28 S toward Fontana Dam. Continue on NC-28 S for about 10 miles. Look for the Fontana Lake Overlook sign on your right. The overlook is located at the coordinates 35.4566° N, 83.5051° W. There is no entry fee for the overlook itself, but make sure to check for parking availability.

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take a local shuttle service from Bryson City to Fontana Dam.
