Getting There

• Public Transit

  From downtown Hood River, walk to the nearest bus stop located at 4th & State St. Catch the Columbia Area Transit (CAT) bus Route 1 to The Dalles. The bus operates several times a day, so check the schedule for the next departure. After approximately a 30-minute ride, disembark at the stop closest to Discovery Drive. Walk along Discovery Drive for about 0.5 miles, following the signs until you reach the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum at 5000 Discovery Dr, The Dalles, OR 97058.

• Bicycle

  For a scenic ride, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Hood River. Head east on Oak St. towards the Historic Columbia River Highway. Follow the highway eastward, which will have bike lanes. Continue for about 10 miles until you reach The Dalles. Once you arrive, take a left onto Discovery Drive and follow the road until you reach the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum at 5000 Discovery Dr.

• Walking

  If you're up for a long walk, start from downtown Hood River and head east on Oak St. towards the Historic Columbia River Highway. Continue along the highway, following the scenic path for approximately 10 miles. When you reach The Dalles, turn left onto Discovery Drive and walk straight until you arrive at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum at 5000 Discovery Dr.
